MoD depot

Also near Long Marston is a former Ministry of Defence depot which is home to the Stratford on Avon and Broadway Railway project.

Since rail privatisation in the mid 1990s, the former Ministry of Defence (MoD) depot has been used as a storage area by the rolling stock companies (ROSCOs) for out-of-lease railway rolling stock; the site being secluded well away so as minimise the risk of vandalism.

The site is proposed by its owners, St Modwen Properties plc, along with The Bird Group of Companies Ltd to be the home of Middle Quinton, one of Gordon Brown's Eco Towns. The Bard campaign http://www.bardcampaign.com oppose the development.
