Background
Lumenis was formed by the 2001 acquisition of US-based ophthalmic laser company
Coherent Medical by Israeli company ESC Medical. Post acquisition, the merged businesses were rebranded as Lumenis, a name based upon the Latin word for light - Lumen. In December 2006, a group led by a private equity consortium, Viola Partners and Ofer Hi-Tech Group, invested approximately $150M in the company.From doctors' offices, hospitals and clinics to medical spas all over the world, Lumenis products provide leading edge, state of the art solutions for a wide range of conditions.
