Reception

Critical reception to the album was mixed. AMG gave the album four out of five stars, saying "Jackson gets a vote not only for holding on to the tradition but because he is able to articulate its heart in a heartless age." [Jurek, Thom (2000). [http://wm09.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:aifrxqt0ldke "Review"] AllMusic.com. Retrieved October 3, 2007] While "People" magazine found the album "innocuous enough" and "mildly amusing," ultimately the reviewer found it "a waste of one of the most distinctive voices in country music."
