. The White Stockings changed their name in 1890 to the Chicago Colts and again in 1898 to the Chicago Orphans until finally settling in 1902 with the name of the Chicago Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs have completed age|1872|10|31 seasons of professional baseball games, second only to the Atlanta Braves. [Both the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves started in 1871, but Chicago was forced to cancel the 1872 and 1873 seasons due to the 1871 Great Chicago Fire.] Within this time, the Cubs have won 16 National League pennants, 2 World Series Championships, and tied for 1 Pre-World Series Championship.
