Jhalawan

Jhalawan was established in the 17th century and its boundary were fixed with Sindh in the 1853. The country was south of State of Kalat, north of the Sarawan, west of the Kachi and Sindh and east of the Kharan and Makran. Jhalawan has important valleys of Baluchistan, such as Gidar, Baghwana, Zehri, Firozabad valley, Wadh, Nal, Saruna, Jau and the Mashkai river.

History

In 15th century country fall in control of Mirwari. The founders of Brahui kingdom, from start of Nighar and Surab extended domination of the Jhalawan hills. Before, Mir Khudadad Khan the country was part of Khan of Kalat for many years but Mir Khudadad Khan rule make things started struggling which result strangle of Jhalawan tribesmen and their chief Taj Muhammad Zarakzai. In 1869, Jhalawan people were under Nuruddin Mengal, for many battles in the region. It was Gauhar Khan the chief of Zahri, outbreak started in the 1893 till 1895, who was defeated by Kalat State troops which resulted the death of Gauhar Khan and his son at Garmap.

Population

In 1901 the total population was 224,073. In which majority were Brahuis and minority were Baluchis. The tribes in region were Zehri, Mengal, Muhammed Hasni, Bizenjo, Sajdi, Rodeni, Rekizai, Gurgnari, Sumalani, Kambrani, Mirwani and Kalandarani. All these tribes have sub-clans.
