The African Forest Buffalo ("Syncerus caffer nanus") is smaller than the Cape Buffalo, with horns that curves out backwards and upwards. Usually weighing between 265 and 565kg, they are reddish brown in color. Its native habitat is the equatorial forest found in central and western Africa, and its diet consists primarily of grasses, twigs, and young shoots. African Forest Buffalo are sought after by hunters for their meat and horns. In the wild, leopards are its primary predator.
