Baiyaa

Baiyaa (Bayaa’) (Arabic,البياع) is a middle-class district in western Baghdad, Iraq along the Baghdad Airport Road. It contains a separate Sunni and Shiite enclaves within it. It has been calm during the Iraq War, but many stores have closed and both Shiite and Sunni families from Baiyaa have fled the neighborhood in May 2007 as violence increased.

Baiyaa has a Shiite majority but is also the main commercial center of the Sunni-dominated Triangle of Death. Baiyaa's Sunnis are mostly drawn from the Janabi clan.
