St John's Wood is an unbounded locality within the suburb of Ashgrove in Brisbane, Australia. The area was originally a large property with a homestead called Granite House, which was founded in 1856. The house is still in good condition and the original property has been subdivided to make way for new homes. Currently, the neighbourhood is home to a Scouting group, residential properties and a pre-school. The neighbourhood is accessed by either a footbridge or car bridge. As a result, in rare cases of heavy rain it can become inaccessible for one or two days.

1974 Flood

Due to St John's Wood's geography (being bordered on three sides by the Enoggera creek), there is a high risk of flooding on the lower streets. Exactly this happened in 1974, in the Brisbane 1974 Flood. Waters in Enoggera creek rose by up to 6.5 metres and many houses were washed away. Today parks take their place and provide a buffer against repeated flooding.
