Crystal Cove State Park is located in Newport Beach, Orange County, California. Crystal Cove is a stretch of coastal cliffs and a beach front cove situated between Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean just north of Laguna Beach.[1] The park has 3.2 miles (5 km) of beach and 2,400-acre (10 km2) of undeveloped woodland inland of the coast highway, which is popular for hiking and horseback riding. The offshore waters are designated as an underwater park. Crystal Cove is used by mountain bikers inland and scuba and skin divers underwater. The beach is popular with swimmers and surfers. Visitors can explore tidepools and sandy coves.[2]

Crystal Cove is not just used by people who enjoy water related activities, such as swimming, surfing, sunbathing, scuba and skin diving, but also people who like to fish, mountain bike and hike. Dogs are confined to a paved area. They are not permitted on the beach or in the backcountry. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited throughout the park.[3]

Lifeguard Services at Crystal Cove are provided by the California State Parks Lifeguard Service. Lifeguards patrol the beach year round while lifeguard towers are staffed roughly Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Visitors not camping overnight are required to leave the park by sunset.[3]

Inside the park’s Historic District, you can rent any of the newly-restored Beach Cottages and experience the original seaside colony that thrived there in the 1930s to the 1950s.

The house from the Bette Midler movie Beaches is located in Crystal Cove.
