William Goodenough

William Goodenough

Sir William Edmund Goodenough GCB, MVO (1867-1945) was a British admiral of World War I.

He commanded the 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron from 1913-16, participating in the battles of Heligoland Bight in August 1914, Dogger Bank in January 1915, and Jutland in May-June 1916.

He was promoted to Rear-Admiral after Jutland and given command of the 2nd Battle Squadron, which he retained to the end of the war.
