Cork North East is a former parliamentary
constituency inIreland , which was represented inDáil Éireann , the lower house of the Irish parliament orOireachtas . It existed from 1961–1981. It elected five (later four) Teachtaí Dála (TDs) to the Dáil, using theSingle Transferable Vote method ofproportional representation (PR-STV).Boundaries

Fermoy ; former rural district ofKanturk ; former rural district ofMallow ; former rural district ofMidleton ; former rural district ofMitchelstown No. 1; former rural district ofYoughal ; and the urban districts ofCobh , Fermoy, Mallow, Midleton and Youghal. The constituency was created in 1961, under the
Electoral (Amendment) Act 1961 , for the 1961 general election to Dáil Éireann. The constituency returned five Teachtaí Dála from 1961 to 1969. Under theElectoral (Amendment) Act 1969 this was reduced to four seats from 1969 onwards.It was abolished under the
Electoral (Amendment) Act 1980 , when it was partially replaced by the new constituencies of Cork East and Cork North West.ee also
