The New York Yankees' 1956 season was the 54th season for the Yankees. The team finished with a record of 97-57, winning their 22nd pennant, finishing 9 games ahead of the Cleveland Indians. New York was managed by Casey Stengel. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium. In the World Series, they defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers in 7 games. The Series featured the first and only no-hitter in Series play, a perfect game, delivered by the Yankees' Don Larsen in Game 5.

*April 2, 1956: Whitey Herzog was sent by the New York Yankees to the Washington Senators to complete an earlier deal made on February 8, 1956. The New York Yankees sent a player to be named later, Lou Berberet, Bob Wiesler, Herb Plews, and Dick Tettelbach to the Washington Senators for Mickey McDermott and Bobby Kline. The New York Yankees sent Whitey Herzog (April 2, 1956) to the Washington Senators to complete the trade.
