Shirva

Shirva is a village in Udupi talik of Udupi district.The village is known locally for cultivation of flowers, especially Jasmine called Mallige in Tulu language spoken by localites of the district. Manchakal is the town in Shirva grama.

Structure of Shirva

Shirva not only nearer to the main location like education hubs - Manipal , Nitte. City like Udupi , Karkala and beach like Kaup, and also city Mangalore which is the nearest airport. This hamlet is famous for several reasons. It has a Govt health center, the Govt telephone exchange, a post office, a Church, a few temples and two mosques. The Specialty of this village is that it has two colleges run by two different groups. People of three religions – Hindu , Christian , Muslim are equally populated. It shot to fame because of the jasmine flower which is grown in this region.
