"Let It Go" is a song by R&B singer Keyshia Cole released as the lead single from her second album "Just like You". It features rappers Lil' Kim and Missy Elliott. Elliott also produced the song, which samples "Juicy Fruit" by Mtume, and "Don't Stop the Music" by Yarborough and Peoples. This song also interpolates "Juicy" by The Notorious B.I.G., who also sampled "Juicy Fruit". The single debuted on the "Billboard" Hot 100 at number 74 on the issue date of July 7, 2007 and peaked at number 7, becoming Cole's third top ten hit single altogether and first top ten "Billboard" Hot 100 single as a lead artist. Due to heavy requests, Z100 finally started rotating the track in late September 2007. It is nominated in the 'Best Rap/Sung Collaboration' category at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards to be held February 2008. This song was number 59 on "Rolling Stone"'s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007. [No byline (December 11, 2007). Song information

"Let It Go" is about female empowerment and failed relationships. It is about "letting go" of your relationship if the other person is not there for you, and is not interested in showing you love or treating you right. The song is often referred to as another "Ladies Night" (by Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, Da Brat and Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes)The song "Let It Go" was originally intended for Fantasia for her self-titled album, but she had too many songs on that album, and Cole wanted it after Elliott played it for her. According to 50 Cent in a hot 97 interview the song was also offered to G-Unit artist Oliva who picked another Missy Elliot track instead. Lil' Kim appears on the record to remember Biggie, as the song is similar to his hit "Juicy".cite web | title="The Making of Keyshia Cole's "Let It Go""| work=Vibe| url=http://www.vibe.com/news/online_exclusives/2007/06/keyshia_let_go_vid/| accessdate=2007-06-25]

The song has become Cole's most successful song to date as a lead artist (her most successful song would be (When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me with Sean Paul), peaking at number 7 on the "Billboard" Hot 100 and reaching number one on "Billboard's" Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

Music video

On "106 & Park", on August 8, Cole confirmed that she did a remix to the song with T.I. and Young Dro. She went on the say that they were planning on making a video. The original video peaked at number one on August 27, 2007 on "106 & Park"'s countdown.

The video was directed by Benny Boom, and was shot on the week of June 22, 2007. Cole explained that the concept of the video "was you know, I'm chillin' at home, I just want to go out, they want me to go out, so I go out. I go do my thing and have a good time, basically. It's a party concept: This is what you need to do when you hear this song come on at the club. That's what you need to do with this record: Let it go." The video premiered on BET's "Access Granted" on July 11, 2007. It begins with Elliott convincing Cole to go out to a club to get her mind away from a guy. They are in the car and go to the club. The rest of the video is set in the club where everyone is dancing and having a good time. Angie Martinez, Leilene (from ) and Fat Joe make appearances in the video. The radio edit is used in the video. The video has peaked at number 1 on BET's "106 & Park] ". The music video was filmed at New York City nightclub HOME in the Chelsea clubbing district which is located at 27th street and 10th avenue.
