Ondray T. Harris

On May 23, 2007, President of the United States George W. Bush nominated United States Department of Justice lawyer Ondray T. Harris, of Virginia, to be Director of the Department of Justice's Community Relations Service (CRS). Mr. Harris was nominated to head CRS for a four-year term, and he was designated Acting Director until his nomination is confirmed by the Senate.

Prior to being nominated to serve as Director of CRS, Mr. Harris served as a Deputy Chief in the Employment Litigation Section of the United States Department of Justice Civil Rights Division. Before joining the Department of Justice, Ondray Harris was a Partner at Leclair Ryan, a Virginia law firm. Earlier in his career he served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia's Office of the Attorney General. The CRS is the Justice Department's "peacemaker" for community conflicts and tensions tied to differences of race, color, and national origin.

Mr. Harris received his bachelor's degree from Hampden-Sydney College and his Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University. Ondray Harris is a native of Richmond, Virginia.
