Peter Macdonald (Australian politician)

Peter Alexander Cameron Macdonald JP, (born. 29/05/1943) is an Australian medical doctor and politician from Glasgow, Scotland . He is currently the Mayor of Manly Council, and was formerly an independent member for the Electoral district of Manly.

Educated in Edinburgh, the University of London (MB,BS) and Kings College Hospital, Macdonald emigrated to Australia in 1972. He settled in Manly and worker as a general Practitioner. During this time he was involved with the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). He joined the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He obtained a Diploma Anaesthetics (DA).

He was elected to Manly Municipal Council from 1984 to 1999 and was re-elected as mayor from 2004 to 2008. He will now remain as a councillor due to his announcement of not running for mayor at the Local Government Elections.
