J. Anita Stup (born March 8, 1945) is a former member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 3, which covers most of Frederick County, Maryland.

Background

Delegate Stup was first elected in 1991 to represent District 3A. She defeated incumbent Democrat Royd Smith. [ [http://www.elections.state.md.us/elections/1990/results_1990/gahod.html Maryland State Board of Elections ] ] She shared this district with Democrat James E. McClellan.

In the 1994 Republican primary election, Stup won one of the 3 spots on the newly consolidated District 3 along with Louise V. Snodgrass and Melvin Castle. Snodgrass won their first election. Former Delegate Royd Smith ran again in this election, but finished last among the six candidates. Education

Delegate Stup attended Montgomery Junior College, now known as Montgomery College.

Career

In addition to her work as a state delegate, Anita Stup was also a member of the Advisory Committee on School Construction and Advisory Committee on Redistricting for the Frederick County Superintendent of Schools. She was on the Board of County Commissioners for Frederick County from 1982-1986 and again from 1986-1990 (president, 1986-90).
