Pumpkin Bomb (comics)

Pumpkin Bomb (comics)

A Pumpkin Bomb was a grenade used by the fictional character, the Green Goblin.

Description

A Pumpkin Bomb looks like a miniature Jack-o'-lantern and when thrown, ignites almost soundlessly and produce enough heat to melt through a 3-inch thick sheet of steel. The goblin holds these and a variety of other grenades in a shoulder bag he calls his "Bag Of Tricks"

Variations

The Green Goblin has a range of other "Pumpkin Bombs" at his disposal. These include smoke and gas-emitting bombs. Some release hallucinogenic gases, while others emit a specially created mixture that neutralizes Spider-Man's Spider Sense for a limited period of time. All of these are covered in a light pastic mantle that flutter like a wraith when thrown.

Usage in the films

= "Spider-Man" =

In the first film, the Green Goblin uses them at different points, including attacking a concert where Macy Gray was performing and Peter's Aunt May who was praying to her deceased husband.

"Spider-Man 3"

In the third film, Harry Osborn as the New Goblin, uses them to attack Spider-Man on different occasions, but also gets his face scarred by one that had gone off near him. He also used them near the end when battling Giant Sandman, throwing one into him before it explodes seconds later. Spider-man also uses one to destroy Venom.
