Seddon is an inner suburb to the west of the city of Melbourne, Australia. It was named after Richard Seddon, the New Zealand Prime Minister 1893-1906 who resided in the suburb (then known as Belgravia), before moving to Bendigo and New Zealand thereafter. The Belgravia Hotel, located at 236 Nicholson Street, Footscray, carries its and Seddon's original name for this reason. Seddon's postcode is 3011.

Seddon is sometimes erroneously referred to as part of nearby suburb Footscray, however there are vast differences. While Footscray is one of the main shopping areas of Melbourne's inner western suburbs (and a major artery of the city's rail transport system), Seddon's median house price is approximately $510,000 [http://www.realestateview.com.au/propertydata/vic/seddon/index.html] , while Footscray's sits at $450,000 [http://www.realestateview.com.au/propertydata/vic/footscray/index.html] . Seddon also differs demographically, with 37 percent of residents owning their home, compared to Footscray's 24 percent. Seddon lies between the two suburbs of Footscray and Yarraville. Seddon's railway station is on the Werribee and Williamstown railway lines of the Melbourne train network. The suburb also features the Seddon Cricket Club, whose home ground is Yarraville Gardens.

Opposite Seddon's train station is the 5th Footscray Scout Group. With programs for children aged 6 to 15, the group is part of Scouts Australia, and meets in a histroic hall on railway land.
