Skinner releasing technique

Skinner releasing technique

The Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT) is a dance technique developed by Joan Skinner in the 1960s based on the belief that there is an innate sense of coordination in movement which can correct muscle tension and skeletal misalignment induced by aging. SRT is believed to bring about body-mind integration through movement, imagery, voice, language, and music. Professor Emeritus Joan Skinner, University of Washington, was a member of the Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham Dance Companies.
