The Vegetable Game

The Vegetable Game

"The Vegetable Game", also commonly known as "Pass the Vegetables", is a drinking game. [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY40koFq02g YouTube - Vegetable Game on Pub Golf ] ] [ [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMR9XCMv2DU&feature=related YouTube - Lauren attempting the vegetable game ] ]

Players are arranged into something resembling a circle. The game is started by each player naming their vegetable, which will be seen as their representative. Once all players have chosen their vegetable, play begins. One player (usually the "Chairman") starts the game by naming their vegetable twice, followed by the vegetable of another player twice. This player then says his/her vegetable twice followed by another player's vegetable, and play continues until a player either responds when not addressed, or an addressed player hesitates for too long. After a few rounds, once everyone has identified who is who, an additional rule can be to punish with drinking penalty any "pass-backs" or repetition. When two mistakes have been made by a player, the third must always be on finger (finger's width from the surface of the alcohol down the side, finger) from the middle (mixed drink, e.g. Vodka, Baileys and Orange Juice).

An interesting twist is usually played where no players at any time are allowed to show their teeth, with a punishment of two fingers from the middle straight away. This is possibly the hardest rule to abide by, because players end up sounding like they have no teeth, and hiding your teeth is incredibly difficult whilst laughing.

The game, especially when all players are inebriated, spirals into more and more drinking and is a very good filler for longer games such as King's Cup, seeing as it is easily dropped and restarted, as players can easily remember their vegetable and others' vegetables too.

Variations

This game is very easily changed to accommodate the situation and players. Household appliances, planets of the solar system, brands of beer, etc. can all be used instead of vegetables, however vegetables has been known to be the most enjoyable and have the largest scope for originality and elaboration (aubergine, butternut squash, etc.).

Zoomy Zoomy

Another Variation of this game is called Zoomy Zoomy (created by Emily Londo). To start get everyone in a circle. The person who starts is Zoomy and everyone counts off. Zoomy, one, two...and so on. You smack your hands to your a table twice, and then clap twice. You get into a rhythm. Zoomy starts. You say your number as you hit the table and then anyone else's number as you clap. If that person falters in responding then thay have to drink.(see example below)

Everyone yells as they slap the tableAAAWWW Zoomy, Zoomy (clap clap) F**k me up (clap clap)

zoomy zoomy one, one

one, onethree, threeand so on.

The penalties (and cause for them) can be adjusted too, for lenience or for increased strictness. Other ongoing games during the Vegetable Game can include Tom Thumb, Magic Boomerang and BuffaloBuffalo (drinking game)
