Thornley is a Canadian post-grunge/hard rock band.

The band was started by Ian Thornley when he returned to Toronto after the breakup of his earlier band, Big Wreck. With the help of Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, Thornley signed on to Kroeger's 604 Records. The other band members of Thornley are Tavis Stanley on guitar, drummer Eric Paul, formerly of Canadian band Big Sugar, and Cale Gontier, a former guitar technician for Three Days Grace (and cousin of frontman Adam Gontier), on bass.

The band's debut album, "Come Again", was produced by Gavin Brown, [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:rguw6j837190~T1 Biography of Thornley on All Music] ] and released on Chad Kroeger's 604 Records in 2004. Thornley toured North America extensively after their debut album came out, and "Come Again" was certified gold in Canada (50,000 units) by the CRIA [http://www.cria.ca/gold/1204_g.php] , while also producing two #1 singles ("So Far So Good" and "Come Again"). Thornley was also nominated for two Juno Awards in the wake of "Come Again": New Group of the Year and Rock Album of the Year.

The band initially included Ken Tizzard (formerly of The Watchmen) on bass, and Sekou Lumumba (formerly of Edwin & The Pressure) on drums. However, in October 2005, due to unknown reasons, Ken and Sekou parted ways with Thornley and moved on to other personal projects. Thornley continued touring immediately.

According to Ian Thornley's October 2006 interview with Myles Swift of Crusher Magazine, a second album was to be due out in early summer of 2007. [http://www.crushermagazine.com/features10_06/featthornley.htm Interview with Ian Thornley] ] It was expected to be accompanied by a DVD entitled "Thornley Live," which was shot across Canada in late 2005 by Ryerson University Radio and Television Arts students. In a November 2007 interview with the Oshawa based CKGE-FM 94.9 FM "The Rock", Ian Thornley confirmed that the new album is now due to be released in early 2009, alluding to the reason for the delay being that "it's a bit of a headache getting a record made these days through the channels of a label ... so many people have to be on board". [http://www.therock.fm/files/media/Thornley1.mp3] He also identified the likely producer as Nick Raskulinecz. [http://www.therock.fm/files/media/Thornley2.mp3]
