"Metal Meltdown" is a song by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, off of their 1990 album, "Painkiller". It starts with two shred guitar solos, with the first solo played by K.K. Downing, and the second played by Glenn Tipton. A third duel solo between the two guitarists is played later in the song. A live version of the song appears on the album "'98 Live Meltdown", on which the band heads straight into the song, without the intro guitar solos. However, interestingly enough, there is footage on youtube.com of the band playing live, with Downing and Tipton playing the opening solos of the song before starting to play "Riding on the Wind" with the rest of the band. Judas Priest's previous album, "Ram it Down", featured another song with an intro of an unaccompanied guitar solo by Tipton, called "Heavy Metal". The band's next album, "Jugulator", broke the tradition of having one song with such an intro.

The song is noted for its building intensity, similar to some of the band's other songs, such as "Painkiller", and "Jawbreaker".

This song was featured on the compilation, , which was not endorsed by the band.
