Thomas Attenborough

Thomas Attenborough

Thomas Attenborough (July 18, 1833 — January 21, 1907) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler who played for Derbyshire. Attenborough was born and died in Ilkeston.

Attenborough first represented Derbyshire in 1871, playing in the team's first ever match, against Lancashire, as a middle-upper order batsman. Derbyshire won the match by an innings margin, and the fixture held the record for the lowest ever score achieved against Derbyshire in first-class cricket for 87 years.

Attenborough followed this appearance up with five further games for the team, all of which, until 1874, were against Lancashire. Attenborough was an upper-order batsman and an occasional, modestly economical, bowler for the team.

Attenborough died at the age of 73.
