Éamonn O'Donoghue (born 6 June, 1951) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and with the Cork senior inter-county team in the 1970s and 1980s.

Playing career

Club

O'Donoghue played his club hurling with the famous Blackrock club in Cork. He first tasted success at underage level when he won three successive city and county minor titles from 1967 until 1969. O'Donoghue later won his first senior county championship title in 1973. This win was later converted into a Munster club title as well as an All-Ireland club title. Two years later O'Donoghue captured a second county title, before later winning a second Munster club title. 1978 saw O'Donoghue win another trio of county, provincial and All-Ireland titles with his club. The following year O'Donoghue claimed a fourth county medal and a fourth Munster club title.

Inter-county

O'Donoghue played hurling with the Cork senior inter-county team throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He first tasted success in 1976 when he came on as a substitute in the All-Ireland final victory over Wexford. He was a member of the panel when Cork won the All-Ireland again in 1977. In 1978 O'Donoghue won his first Munster medal on the field of play. Later that year he came on as a substitute in the All-Ireland final victory over Kilkenny, giving him his second All-Ireland medal. O'Donoghue won two further Munster medals in 1982 and 1983, however, Cork lost both subsequent All-Ireland finals to Kilkenny.
