Albert R. Howe

Albert Richards Howe (January 1, 1840 - June 1, 1884) was a U.S. Representative from Mississippi.

Born in Brookfield, Massachusetts, Howe pursued classical studies. Enlisted in the Union Army in 1861 as a private in the Forty-seventh Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, and was promoted through the ranks to major until his discharge on November 30, 1865.He settled in Como, Mississippi, in 1865 and engaged in cotton planting.He served as member of the Mississippi constitutional convention in 1868.He served as delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1868.He was appointed treasurer of Panola County in 1869.He served as member of the State house of representatives 1870-1872.

Howe was elected as a Republican to the Forty-third Congress (March 4, 1873-March 3, 1875).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1874 to the Forty-fourth Congress.He moved to Illinois in 1875 and engaged in the brokerage business in Chicago, where he died June 1, 1884.He was interred in Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield, Massachusetts.
