Eva Cantarella

Eva Cantarella

Eva Cantarella is a leading classicist noted for examining ancient law by relating it to modern legal issues through law and society perspective. She has carried out researches on legal and social history of sexuality, women's conditions, criminal law and capital punishment.

She has written many books, which have been translated into several languages, including English, French, German and Spanish. She is also editor of "Dike. International Journal of Greek Law" and member of different editorial boards such as "Apollo. Bollettino di Musei provinciali del Salernitano"; "Dioniso"; "Crime, histoire et Societés. Crime , history and Societies”; "Revista des estudios latinos"; "CADMO Revista de História Antiga da Universidade de Lisboa".

She is currently professor of "Roman law" and "ancient Greek law" at the University of Milan, Italy. Previously, she was dean of the Law School at the University of Camerino. She also teaches and lectures at many universities in Europe and the United States. Recently she has been Global Professor at New York University Law School.
