"Body Wishes" is a studio album released by Rod Stewart on June 10 1983 (see 1983 in music). It was Rod’s 12th studio album and was released on Warner Bros. Records (WEA 92-3877-1). The tracks were recorded and mixed at The Record Plant, Los Angeles. It produced three singles, “Baby Jane”, “What Am I Gonna Do (I'm so in Love with you)", and “Sweet Surrender”.

Critical Reception

"Body Wishes" was criticized harshly. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic gave the album 1.5 out of 5 stars, calling the album "one of Rod Stewart's worst efforts", and accusing him of taking the singles-and-filler approach (he called "Baby Jane" and "What Am I Gonna Do (I'm So In Love With You)" "first-rate, synth-laden pop/rock" that sounds substantial next to the other songs.

Similarly, "Rolling Stone" magazine, at the time of its release, gave it 2 out of 5 stars, calling it "his latest and surely one of his least", although they did praise the opening song, "Dancing Alone", calling it "a Chuck Berry-styled Rock & Roller that is both lively and witty".

Charts

"Body Wishes" peaked at #5 in the UK where it went platinum on July 18, 1983. In the United States it failed to reach a sales certification, but did chart at #30
