A Story of the Stone Age

"A Story of the Stone Age" is a short story written in 1897 by H.G. Wells.

The story was featured in three parts between May and August 1897, and later released in collected editions. The story is set during the Stone Age, and tells of a caveman named Ugh-lomi, who is overthrown as tribal leader by traitor Uya. Whilst in exile, Ugh-lomi finds an alien variety of flint, which he fashions into a weapon and uses to reclaim his position as tribal leader.

The story is also strange for Wells, in the sense that the various animals featured, including Boars, Bears and Hyenas all have names and can speak English.
