Leavenworth Times

The Leavenworth Times is a daily newspaper in Leavenworth, Kansas and is the oldest daily newspaper in Kansas.

The newspaper was founded in 1856 by Robert Crozier, who would become a U.S. Senator. In 1871 Daniel R. Anthony (brother of Susan B. Anthony) bought the newspaper. In that year Anthony shot and killed a rival publisher R.C. Satterlee of the "Kansas Herald". A jury absolved him. In 1875 Anthony was shot at the Leavenworth Opera House by rival editor William Embry, editor of the "Daily Appeal." He survived and the Anthony family continued to publish the newspaper until the 1960s.

It was owned by a series of publishers including a predecessor of The Thomson Corporation. It is currently owned by GateHouse Media.
