William Ross Short is a former Major League Baseball pitcher.

He was signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in by|1955. Bill made his Major League Debut for the Yankees in by|1960 and play his final game with the Reds in by|1969.

In by|1959 Bill was awarded the Most Valuable Pitcher award for the International League.

During his playing career, Short reportedly had a throwing style similar to Whitey Ford and also had a 'sneaky' pickoff move to first base [by|1961 Topps #252] .
