William Murphy (footballer)

William "Winkie" Murphy is a Northern Irish semi-professional footballer currently playing for Linfield, the most successful club in the Irish Premier League. He previously played for Ards and Carrick Rangers. William has played in central defence for Linfield since 1997 and has been granted a Testimonial year. William was born on 29th January 1974.William studied Electronic Engineering at Newtownabbey Technical College, where he was a member of YD3 and only got twenty nine pounds and fifty pence.

William Murphy was voted Northern Ireland Player of the Year 2007.He is a true Linfield legend and has just finished his Testimonial year and scored in his match (against Ranger Legends) Linfield will miss Winkie and give him their best!!
