Fillmore High is a secondary school that is located in the Santa Clara River Valley in Fillmore, California. It can be found by the middle of State Route 126 between Ventura and Valencia, California.

History

In 1888 the people began to settle in the Fillmore area, as a result of the building of the Southern Pacific Railroad through the Santa Clara Valley.

The original Fillmore High School was built in 1910. The first graduating class (1911) consisted of four students: Mabel D. Arthur, Mary E. Cummings, Sarah N. King, and Albert G. Wiklund. [http://www.fillmore.k12.ca.us/fhs/hs_info.htm]

In 1914 Fillmore, California was established, thus officially naming FHS.

In 1937 the current high school was built, which was upgraded in 1954 with the addition of a gym, library, as well as additional classrooms. 1964 marked the acquisition of 80 acres of land, predominantly covered by citrus trees, for a student-run farm.

The first Fillmore School LAN was established in 1996, providing Internet access to the High School library.

pecial Events

Fillmore High School is closely associated with numerous activities and events through both its wide array of clubs as well as its staff. In August, 2006 Fillmore High School hosted its first-ever American Cancer Society's Relay for Life [http://www.cancer.org/docroot/par/content/PAR_1_Relay_For_Life.asp] where it raised over $20,000.Fillmore High School Drama students also perform numerous plays at the local Fillmore Towne Theatre, such as The Egg and I.
