The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service (often truncated to NYU Wagner or simply Wagner) is a public policy school that offers a comprehensive curriculum in public and nonprofit policy and management. It is one of 14 schools and divisions at New York University and is the largest school of public service in the United States.[citation needed] NYU Wagner is considered one of the nation's premier graduate schools for public policy and administration and is regularly ranked among the top programs in the nation, most recently in the nation's top 10 programs in public affairs, by U.S. News & World Report.[1]

History

The Puck Building- Home of the Wagner School

Established in 1938 as the Graduate School of Public Administration, the school was named for the three-term New York City mayor Robert Ferdinand Wagner, Jr. in 1989 after having received a major donation by the Wagner family. In 2004 Wagner relocated to the Puck Building, a well-known New York City landmark in the city's SoHo neighborhood. In 2005, the school opened the John Brademas Center for the Study of Congress.

Wagner also offers joint degree programs with the NYU School of Law, the Stern School of Business, the Skirball Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies, and other units at NYU.

The most recent U.S. News and World Report ranked Wagner #10 nationally for all policy schools. In addition, the survey ranked Wagner #3 in Health Policy and Management,[2] #6 in City Management and Urban Policy,[3] #6 in Public Finance and Budgeting,[4] #9 in Nonprofit Management,[5] and #7 in Social Policy.[6] Wagner is the largest school of public service in the United States.[citation needed] The school operates nine research centers:
