Song information

Innocent is the fourth track and second single on Our Lady Peace's album "Gravity". It, along with the album's first single, "Somewhere Out There", are considered to be the band's most recognizable tracks.Despite this, "Innocent", along with the album as a whole, was panned by many critics for sounding "too mainstream".Innocent is generally the most known song by people who do not follow the band.

The song tells the story of people who suffer from hard lives, including a girl with cancer. The song references legendary rock musicians John Lennon and Kurt Cobain.

Song meaning

The song's meaning has been discussed by many fans. Some say that the song is about wars, others believe the song is trying to say that everyone is "innocent", meaning born with an inherent good to them. Others believe it is a song for teens to relate to.
