Steven Lee Nelson (born April 26, 1951 in Farmington, Minnesota) is a former professional American football linebacker who played for the New England Patriots from 1974 to 1987. He was selected by the Patriots in the 2nd round of the 1974 NFL Draft and missed only three games during his 14-year NFL career. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times in 1981, 1985, and 1986 and his #57 jersey was retired by the Patriots. He is credited with helping the Patriots reach Super Bowl XX versus the Chicago Bears.

After his football retirement, Nelson was the athletic director and head coach at Curry College from 1998-2006 (football coach through 2005 season). He is currently an analyst for WCVB Channel 5's New England Patriot games. He can also be heard on Sports Radio WEEI's 850 AM "Big Show".

Nelson is an Anoka High School graduate (also a Minnesota school). He attended North Dakota State University.
