Hill Top, Cumbria

Hill Top, Cumbria

Hill Top is a 17th-century house in Near Sawrey near Hawkshead, in the English county of Cumbria.

It once belonged to Beatrix Potter, the children's writer who wrote the Peter Rabbit books.

Potter left the house to the National Trust. It is open to the public and remains in the same state as when Potter lived there. The house was the inspiration for many illustrations in her books: in each room, something that appears in one of her books can be found.
