Traditions include the mayors of either community presenting the rival mayor with a basket of their community's goodies depending on who wins. If New Braunfels wins, the mayor receives a collection of quality pecans. If Seguin wins, the mayor receives a collection of quality sausages. the coach of the winning team also receives a plaque for display at the school. From 1981 - 2003, the Seguin Matadors lost 23 straight games.

notes=The Annual Food Fight Bowl pits the two intra-county rivals Pickens Blue Flame and the Easley Green Wave and is played at Brice Field in Easley or Bruce Field in Pickens.Although kickoff is always at 8:00, the battle for supremacy begins at 4:00 in the Meals on Wheels Tailgate Party. In addition to enjoying all the food supplied by local diners (all proceeds go to Meals on Wheels of Pickens County), at 6:00, a talent show starts between 2 students from each school. Fans vote through donations and the school (not the individual) is awarded the Ultimate Food Fight Trophy. In the 2008 meeting, Pickens beat Easley for this award with $5744 compared to Easley's $3014. At 7:00, the marching bands and cheerleaders lead the march down to the field, where the Food Fight Bowl kicks off. The winner of the game is awarded the Food Fight Bowl Trophy. Pickens won the last meeting on Sept. 12, 2008 by a score of 48-30
