Kilat Serrada

Kilat Serrada

Kilat Serrada is a Filipino Martial Art founded by GM Roy Sevilla Garciano from Camotes island, Cebu; and has been handed down to only several qualified teachers namely Ramon Garciano, Rohnee Tiong Gumpal, Jesse Valdez, and Joey Escobar.... his oldest son Rommel is a grandmaster in the making. It is a form of self-defense that emphasizes speed "kilat" and quick finishes "serrada" in close quarter combat. It is mostly blade oriented offensively and defensively (some of our blades include kris, pinuti, and balisong). We also use sticks from 5 feet long to 32", 28", 24", 14", 6", 4" in size. Double weapons are also practiced namely espada y daga, doble daga, and doble baston / doble espada.

One of the specialties of Kilat Serrada is the Dekitan / Robuhan techniques to counter individual or multiple attackers armed with weapons in a hold-up scenario.

Kilat Serrada emphasizes economy of motion and striking of vital points and nerves. All parts of the body are used as weapons.. High kicks are not encouraged, but kicks below the waist are utilized strategically. Sinonbagay (Visayan Dirty Boxing) combined with Dumog (visayan Grappling, Locking, limb destruction, bone breaking) are mostly encouraged. Some of the techniques come from the older Visayan Martial arts that include Lawin, Ama / anak gore, alibangbang, haas, and iring techniques, similar to that of Pencak Silat.

GM Roy Garciano and Master Rohnee Tiong Gumpal have been nominated in the Filipino Martial Arts Museum as some of the top living Guros in the world...
