- July 3, 1955: Established as Apostolic Vicariate of Rumbek from the Apostolic Vicariate of Bahr el-Gebel, Apostolic Prefecture of Mupoi and Apostolic Vicariate of Bahr el-Ghazal
- December 12, 1974: Promoted as Diocese of Rumbek
