Bancroft Middle School is a middle school located in San Leandro, California. Its enrollment is currently slightly over 1,000 students and consists of grade 6-8. The school features many courses that are unique and are not found in most other schools. The school's 7th and 8th grade band and orchestra always goes to the Disneyland Resort every 2 years to host a concert. The school year usually starts in the last Wednesday of August. The school boasts one of the highest STAR testing scores in the state, especially in English. The school is in the San Leandro Unified School District, along with its rival John Muir Middle School. The school also has an intense rivalry in sports for Canyon Middle School in neighboring Castro Valley, California. The average number of students per class is 31. Hispanics and Asians form over half of the school's population.
