Big Day Out lineups by year

The is a comprehensive listing of artists and bands who have performed at Big Day Out listed by year. Big Day Out is an Australian music festival which began in 1992 in Sydney and has expanded since to include several Australian venues and also Auckland, New Zealand. Each year, the line-up of artists changes dramatically, generally maintaining rock as the focal music style, but also featuring many hip-hop, electronica, blues and roots artists also. Since its beginning, the line ups have included international acts such as Soundgarden, The Violent Femmes and The Smashing Pumpkins while also promoting local Australian and New Zealand artists such as TISM, Alex Lloyd and many others.

* AFI, Mylo and Jean Grae withdrew from all scheduled performances in Big Day Out 2006.

2007

Tool's performance in Auckland featured Serj Tankian of System of a Down for the song "Sober" and a cover of The Police song "Roxanne".

2008

* Björk was forced to pull out her performance at the Sydney Big Day Out under doctor's orders following swelling on her vocal cords.

The first line-up announcement of the Big Day Out 2009 was made at midnight September 30 AEST on the official Big Day Out Website.

The second announcement will be made in November.
