Rimutaka (New Zealand electorate)

Rimutaka (New Zealand electorate)

Rimutaka is a Hutt Valley electorate in the New Zealand House of Representatives.

The current representative is Paul Swain [ [http://www.parliament.nz/en-NZ/MPP/MPs/MPs/4/6/b/48MP2661-Swain-Paul.htm New Zealand Parliament - Paul Swain MP] ] . He is a member of the Labour Party, and has represented the seat since 1996. He is stepping down at the 2008 election for personal reasons.

Rimutaka covers an area stretching from the Rimutaka Ranges, for which it is named, through Upper Hutt to the Lower Hutt suburbs of Taita, Stokes Valley and Kelson. Boundary changes effective from the 2008 election mean that the suburb of Belmont will move from the Ohariu electorate (previously called Ohariu-Belmont) to become part of Rimutaka.
