KNTU (88.1 FM) is the campus radio station of the University of North Texas which was formerly known as North Texas State University at Denton, Texas. The signal of the station covers much of the Dallas and Fort Worth Metroplex of North Texas with a format of news and primarily Jazz music. While working at the station is open to all University of North Texas students, most of the staff consists of Radio, Television, and Film majors and Journalism majors.

Programming

In addition to playing jazz, KNTU presents several specialty programms:

* La Pura Onda: Tejano music
* The Jazz Minute: A wonderfully, fresh, innovative short feature chronicalling the jazz luminaries of yesterday and today. (retired)
* The North Texas Jukebox: A request show covering any and all genres. Hosts over the years: Mark Schectman, Gadi Elkan, Ilan Goddard, Zach Mayo, and Trey Peart.
* Global Mix: Music from around the world of every genre imaginable.

In addition, KNTU students produce a weeknight newscast, "The Late Edition," which was recognized in 2004 by the Broadcast Educators Association cite web |title=BEA Festival - 2004 Winners |url=http://www.beafestival.org/2004winners.html |accessdate=2008-07-05 as "Best Student Newscast in the Nation," and simulcasts WFAA's "News 8 at Six" (weekdays).
