"Anuradha" (अनुराधा) (Love of Anuradha English) is a 1960 Hindi movie produced and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The film stars Balraj Sahni, Leela Naidu, Asit Sen and Mukri.

The film was based on a short story written by Sachin Bhowmick, first published in the Bengali monthly magazine 'Desh' and according his autobiography, it was inspired by "Madame Bovary", a novel by Gustave Flaubert [ [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0137362/trivia Trivia] Internet Movie Database".] .

The film went on win the National Film Award for Best Film and a nomination for Golden Bear, at Berlin International Film Festival in 1961.

Plot

Anuradha Roy (Leela Naidu), a noted radio singer and daughter a rich man, falls in love with an idealistic doctor, Dr. Nirmal Chowdhary (Balraj Sahni), who serves the poor in the distant villagge Nanda gaon. After the marriage and a daughter, she realises the gravity of the choice of living in a village, it is then she has to decide between her love and her love for city life.
