The Femme Fatales are a group of female mutants that serve as mercenaries for hire. Bloodlust and Whiplash had worked together prior to joining the Femme Fatales, as members of the Band of Baddies. They were hired by the Chameleon to threaten an ambassador. Spider-Man intervened and saved the ambassador, making an enemy with the Femme Fatales. They then joined forces with the Scorpion and the Tarantula, but all of them were defeated by Spider-Man and the Black Cat.

The girls later received an invitation to join Superia and her organization of female criminals, the Femizons. They accepted, and battled Captain America and the Paladin in the process. After the group disbanded, the Femme Fatales did not stay together for long. Bloodlust was seen at the AIM Weapons Expo and later lost her powers after Decimation. Mindblast, however, retained her powers and allied herself with Hammerhead. The current statuses of Whiplash and Knockout are unknown.
