Born in
Quorn, South Australia , she is probably most famous for her role asHelen Daniels in the popular Australian soap opera "Neighbours ". She played this role from the very first episode in 1985 to episode 2,965 in 1997 when she was forced to give up the role due to ill health. However, that role was only one in a career that spanned half a century.Anne made her acting debut on South Australian Radio at the age of 18. A few years later she moved to the UK, hoping to make it as an actress. However, competition for parts was fierce, and Anne ended up working as a secretary for
Kellogg's .Back in Australia, Anne was one of the first presenters of Play School, a show that launched the career of many an Aussie soap star. Other programmes in which Haddy appeared include "Dynasty" (the 1970-71 Australian television series), "Prisoner","Punishment", and a lengthy spell as Rosie Andrews in "Sons and Daughters". She also appeared in the film "
They're a Weird Mob " (1966).Anne was dogged by ill health throughout most of her adult life. She had a
heart attack in 1979, numerous heart bypass operations,stomach cancer , and ahip replacement . She finally and reluctantly quit "Neighbours" in 1997. In 1999, she died peacefully, with her actor husband,James Condon beside her. She had five children and six grandchildren.
