Tulle murders

Tulle murders

Tulle murders were two related events, taking place in June 1944 in the town of Tulle, France.

In response to French Resistance activities, the 2nd Waffen-SS Panzer Division, upon finding the remains of 64 German soldiers of the 95th Security Regiment garrison, hung 99 [ [http://tvnz.co.nz/view/page/425822/219370 France to redress Nazi victims | WORLD | NEWS | tvnz.co.nz ] ] men from lampposts and balconies. Of 141 townspeople, sent to labor camps in Germany, 101 did not return.

Soon after, Major Otto Diekmann's Waffen-SS company wiped out the village of Oradour-sur-Glane on June 10.
