- Timing Retard Eliminator
The Timing Retard Eliminator "(TRE)" is an electronic device that fools the
engine control unit (ECU) of amotorcycle into thinking the gearbox is always in 4th gear and avoides the ECU retarding theignition timing . This retardation reduces power and is done to limit partialthrottle opening power in the lower gears (to prevent inexperienced riders from pullingwheelie s) and acts as a speed limiter (300 km/h / 186 mph) of the motorcycle. Kawasaki also have a similar system. The modulation of the ignition curve varies from model to model as well as make. They do not provide any additional power overall but can increase top speed.
