"Shrek" is an upcoming musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, based on the 2001 DreamWorks film of the same name and the 1990 book, "Shrek!", by William Steig.

The musical debuted at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre on August 14, 2008 in previews with the opening September 10, and ran through September 21. It is scheduled to start previews on Broadway at The Broadway Theatre on November 8, 2008, with an official Broadway opening on December 14, 2008. Jason Moore is the director, and Josh Prince choreographs. Christopher Sieber plays Lord Farquaad, Sutton Foster portrays Princess Fiona, Brian D'Arcy James plays the title character Shrek, with John Tartaglia as Pinocchio. Chester Gregory II played the role of Donkey in the pre-Broadway tryout in Seattle, [Jacobson, Lynn.
